When it comes to drinking, very few ditch their favourite brand and show an interest to explore and experiment with new drinks. That is why many don’t know about an unknown Indian single malt from Goa, which is making waves across the world.
Paul John Single Malt, also known as Goa’s best-kept secret, was awarded the Liquid Gold award by the Whisky Bible and has more than 10 awards. Called The Great Indian Single Malt, the distillery is based in Goa and has Michael D’Souza as its master distiller.
The distillery roped in experts from the UK to install one set of copper pot stills made in India, capable of churning out 3,000 litres of whisky everyday. The whisky has seven variants named Brilliance, Edited, Bold, Cask Classic, Cask Peated, Single Cask Peated and Single Cask Unpeated.
John Distilleries Limited, as the distillery is called, uses malted Indian barley. This gives the whisky a rich brew and a taste which will remain with you for a long time.
Priced from USD 55 to USD 100, Paul John Whisky has a bright future in the liquor market, and will surely take on Feni and King’s beer in the coming years.
