Whisky Bible 2018 - "Paul John Kanya, deft acacia and heather-honey mingle contentedly with the heavier oaky notes to offer a subdued sweetness but one which compliments the intense malt perfectly; ah…! Those honeys are unleashed early on, seemingly free of their oaky shackles and help drive the salivating qualities of the barley through the roof; excellent oils with a gentle liquorice and hickory. A little citrus darts around but very much hanging on to the coat-tails of the malt; long, thanks to those never-ending oils. Even towards the finale there is still Manuka honey to be found with the sub-strata of soft caramel taking the sting out of the gathering spice; when a distillery can find honey at the very end of the its flavour range and profile, you know they have cracked it. Superb! 50%."
Score : 96 Points, by Jim Murray, Whisky Bible 2018.
This exotic unpeated expression from the sunny shores of Goa, encapsulates a tender innocence enhanced with hints of honeyed fruitiness and a soft tinge of spice.
Ruled by Mercury and symbolised by the virgin, Kanya is the dignified Indian counterpart of the highly appealing Virgo, the sixth zodiac sign of the universe. With its earthy, feminine sensuousness, this deep amber expression personifies the intrinsic characteristics of the Kanya.
Matured for 7 years in American white oak casks, its delectable aromas of citrusy spice and tropical fruit lures you to savour its creamy, butterscotch sweetness. The satisfying finish of toasted oak with warm wafts of spice has just the slightest hint of salt, making it ever more memorable.
With rare complexities and an exquisitely balanced dryness, the Kanya, in all its luscious allure, is perhaps one of the softest Indian whiskies ever to be bottled.
Nose : A light citrus with manuka honey arrives early; an intense malt is infused with ripe peach, apricot and vanilla.
Taste : Superb mouthfeel of rich creaminess. The oak delivers a soft, sweet, delectable butterscotch.
Finish : Warm spices suffuse the toasted oak, and the slightest of saltiness ensures the friendliest of finishes.
Balance : A very complex whisky, the big malt and intricately well balanced dryness makes this whisky one of the softest Indian whiskies ever bottled.

SPLENDID STUFF, INDEED!Jim Murray gave @PaulJohnWhisky's Kanya a staggering 96 points, proclaiming it his "Asian Whisky of the Year". Last weekend at Hanse Spirit, I was lucky to try a dram of it at the booth of @BremerSpirituosenContor. Splendid stuff, indeed! #pauljohnkanya.
I tried this at a tasting hosted by Jim Murray himself. Tried it alongside his world whisky of the year from 2017 (Booker Rye) and 2018 (Colonel EHT 4 grain) and it was comfortably the best in my opinion. Stunning.
Whiskey is the water of life to me! afferma Mr Paul John, fondatore di #pauljohnwhisky. E la dimostrazione della sua passione é #kanya, special release della collezione #pauljohn con veramente poche bottiglie per il mercato italiano.
